11-12-09 Miami vs Portsmouth
I think that there is a big difference between most things on this chart, because Portmouth has a lot less people and so less of a chance of things happening. I also think that in Portsmouth, even though there is less people, there aren't really any alleyways or dark places where people could get away with much anything. Also Portsmouth isn't really like a "Big City" where everybody would travel to and it doesn't have big flashy lights, and so most stores and shops close at night, and most people chose to do things at night when you can hide in the darkness. Theft would probably be a little higher in Miami, because again there's more people, but it is closer to Miami than most things in Portsmouth were, so I think that theft would sort of be easy to get away with anywhere because most stores don't have alarms and so you could put something in your purse and very easily walk out with it.
11-12-09 Miami vs Los Angeles
I think that Miami was higher than Los Angeles in everything, because Los Angeles is more crowed with more people around, so there is less of a chance to get away with things. Auto theft would be higher in Miami because in LA many people would walk through the city or possibly take subways. Theft would be higher in Miami too because there would be a lot of people walking around, and it would be very easy for you to be caught if you stole something. I think murder is close to the same, because even though there are more people in LA it would still be possible to get with it because there would be places like alleys, or other places where not many people would be around at all. Whereas with theft, you can't really chose where you do it, or how many people will be around the store or house. I think that burglary is a lot lower too, because people would be around and it would be hard to get away with it.
11-12-09 Miami vs Chicago
I think that there would be more murders in Chicago compared to Miami because Chicago is more populated, so there would be more people that have a chance of being harmed in Chicago. I think that Robery is higher in Chicago because of the population too. I think so because there would be more people so a higher chance of people who feel the need to rob stores/houses. Assault might be higher in Miami because since there's less people, there's a better chance of you being somewhere alone, and most assaults would be made when no people are watching so there would be no witnesses to tell on the people who caused the assault. Burglary and Theft might be higher in Miami because Miami would probably have more valuable items in stores and houses, so they would have better items and so people would want to rob the items that will give them the most money, if they sell them, or the best use. Auto theft would be higher in Miam because more people travel by automoblie. In Chicago, people usually travel by subway or train and so there are less automobiles around to be stolen.
9-25-09 Bottle Making
1. I think that bottles are made from amorphous solids because amorphous solids can be molded, but crystalline solids can't be molded. Also amorphous solids consist of plastic and glass and most bottles are made of plastic and glass.
2. I think that the mold's melting temperature has to be pretty much the same temperature as the glass because if it melted at a lower temperature it would melt and you wouldn't be able to mold the glass if the mold was melted. I also think that the mold has to be the same temperature so that it doesn't get stuck in the bottle or stuck around the bottle because it's too melted or not melted enough. Also if the mold is colder it would cool the glass and then you wouldn't be able to shape the glass.
3. The parison's viscosity is high. It would be high because if the parison's viscosity was low then it wouldn't be able to be a mold because it would just slide down into the shape of what it's in instead of being a mold itself and holding it's own shape.
4. Glass is sometimes called a super-cooled liquid because when it becomes a solid it doesn't go through the first phase of becoming an amorphous solid.

I think that Wicket was right when he said that a car wasn't a living thing. I think he was because a car really isn't living because it doesn't make it's own energy, it doesn't have cells and it can't grow, which are some of the charicteristics of a living thing. I also think though that ET shouldn't get arrested for it because he didn't know that it wasn't living and it seemed very much alive, but it really isn't living. It needs a person for it to operate or some kind of mechanical help, so even then it isn't able to function much by itself. That's why I think a car isn't living.
9-14-09 Apple Living or Nonliving
I think that the apple isn't living. I think that when it was connected to the tree it was living, but once it was taken off it stopped living. I think that it stopped living because it wouldn't be able to make it's own energy now or anything like that. Also fruit becomes rotten, and usually things becaome rotten because they are dead but onwhen they just die they are still fresh but after a while even apples will go bad. When the apple is cut off from the tree it gets it's energy cut off at the same time.
